Every issue is built around one idea: photograph the person properly. A designer, a musician, a framer and a woman who has run the same laundry for thirty years get the same lens, the same light and the same time.

How an issue is made

A cover story. One filmed conversation of about fifteen minutes. Three or four places worth the trip. One short story. That is the whole issue, and the size is the point: nothing is here because a slot needed filling.

What this is not

Not a news site, not a listings site, not a guide to nightlife. There is no rolling feed, and no promised schedule: an issue appears when there is one worth making. Bangkok is already well covered as a destination. It is less well covered as a place where people go to work.

Language

The magazine is written in English, fiction included. Every piece states its language, so a story written in another one can run without confusing anybody. Thai is planned rather than promised: the structure is ready for it, and nothing will be machine translated into it.

Money

Nothing here is paid for. There is no sponsored content, no paid partnerships, no advertising and no arrangement where a business buys its way into an issue. A shop or a brand is welcome to suggest a story, and that is all it is: a suggestion. Fiction is always tagged so it cannot be mistaken for reporting.
